It is from the parish that the Proclamation of the Gospel goes forth.
“The parish exists not for itself, but for the Mission of Christ,
as well as to those around them where they live and work.” (NCCB)

Inaugural Golf Tournament a success

As a means to reach out more to the local community through our food pantry, elder
care ministry, youth ministry, summer camp, and meals for the men and women’s
homeless shelter to name a few, Our Lady of Consolation held its first golf tournament
at The Tradition Golf Club in the University area of Charlotte.

Our honorary chairman for the event was Mr. Humpy Wheeler of NASCAR fame and our
special celebrity guest was former Pittsburgh Pirate and Arizona Diamondback Tony Womack who played a hole against each of the golfers.  While 85 signed up to play, the tournament was delayed a week because of rain and we did loose some golfers, but the day and entire event proved to be a great time and financial support.

Each hole had a sponsor as well as various tournament sponsors and donors for gifts
for our raffle and gift bags.  Chick-fil-A provided a free breakfast for everyone and at
the end of the day dinner was served along with presentation of awards.  Even the local
television was there and we made the evening news.  Plan your spring vacation for
next May to Charlotte and play in our second tournament.

November 21st Brother Lombardo  professed his final vows as a Capuchin Franciscan Friar here at Consolation.  The Harambee Profession Mass at 10:00 was a true celebration of faith, commitment and Franciscanism.  Brother was joined by his parents and aunt from Florida as well as Capuchins from NJ, NY, DE, FL, MA, NC  and CA.   Pictures have been posted in the gallery.
