Our Lady of Consolation Church is a Catholic Christian community celebrating the rich heritage of both Roman Catholicism and African-American traditions. We seek to become a beacon of hope and strength in our community, through outreach and sharing of our time, talents and treasures.
Our Pastor, Rev. Fr. Basile Sede, Ph.D. is Originally from Fiango – Kumba, Cameroon, Fr. Sede attended St. Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary, Bambui, Cameroon, where he studied Philosophy and Theology and was eventually ordained a Catholic Priest for the Diocese of Buea, Cameroon on the 16th of April 1998. Fr. Basile Sede has served in the Diocese of Charlotte for the last eight years.

Read MoreALL parish youth are invited to attend a special 11:00 a.m. Mass Celebration on the 3rd Sunday of every month: "Youth Sunday". All roles during the Mass will be performed by our youth and they will be given priority seating together. The homily will be focused on young people, so that they may better absorb the teachings of the faith and Jesus Christ. Volunteer positions during the Mass are open to youth of the parish who have already received 1st Holy Communion (regardless of enrollment in Faith Formation or Youth in Action): Ushers, Announcements, Readers of the Word, Responsorial Psalm, Prayers of the Faithful, Gift bearers, Capital Campaign Prayer Stewardship is an excellent way to grow in faith & knowledge about God and The Church. Families can sign up on-line at the parish website. -
September 10FAITH FORMATION registration is now open. Lessons will begin next Sunday, September 10, 2023. All youth ages 1st through 12th grade are invited to attend, especially those preparing for sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation. Please contact the Parish Office, or register online. Fees this year have changed. $45 per child, Families: $45 for the first child and $15 for the remaining children in the family. St Martin de Porres Food Pantry
We are open on Tuesdays 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
and on Fridays from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
Anyone needing a food box should call
for an appointment: 704-817-8813.
For all OLC Seniors, if you have a need for food and are unable to come to the pantry, please contact the church office for assistance.
The Food Pantry is also accepting donations during the same hours, Tuesdays 10-12. Special items needed are rice, tuna, can dinners such as spaghetti, ravioli.

Diocesan Support Appeal 2023
The purpose of the Diocesan Support Appeal (DSA) is to help provide the annual funding necessary to carry out the mission of our diocese – namely to fulfill our call to “grow ever more perfectly into a community of praise, worship, and witness, and to become a leaven of service and sign of peace through love in the Piedmont and western North Carolina.” The DSA provides funding for 50 ministries and programs. Pledges made to the 2023 Diocesan Support Appeal must be completed by the end of the year. Contributions made after December 31, 2023 will be credited to the 2024 appeal. Thank you for your support. You can pledge online at www.charlottediocese.org/dsa or by returning the pledge form that you received at Church or in the mail.Please make your pledge to the DSA today. Thank you!

OLC Volunteers Needed
Communications, Audio, and Video Volunteers Needed:
The audio, video, graphics, website and social media teams of the church are looking for volunteers. Volunteers can be high school students from 9th - 12th grade and adults of any age. There will be an orientation about training on Sunday June 4th @ 930am in the gym (also known as sanctuary) . Any questions contact Eric Massey or the church office.
Catechists and Catechist Assistants Needed
Faith Formation is looking for a few good men and women. Catechists and catechist assistants are still needed. No experience is necessary, and we will provide training and curriculum materials. If you are interested in the future of our children (indeed, of our Church) and in supporting our program, if you feel called to serve in this capacity or know someone who may be interested, please fill out a volunteer form located on our website or contact Evelyn Anderson through the parish office.
