All dinners include baked beans, cole slaw, hushpuppies and tea. Come out and support the Men’s Group.
The season of Lent will begin on Ash Wednesday Feb. 14th. While Ash Wednesday is not a Holy Day of Obligation, attending Mass is an excellent way to begin the Lenten season. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days of fasting and abstinence for Catholics. In addition, Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence from meat.
For members of the Catholic Church, the norms on fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal. The norms concerning abstinence from meat are binding upon members of the Catholic Church from age 14 onwards. Ash Wednesday Masses at OLC will be at 9 AM and 7 PM.
Worship together at the Eucharistic Table and pray as a family on this National Day of Prayer for the African American and African family. This week we pray for and celebrate our families. All are encouraged to share a meal together, tell your family story, read the bible and pray together.
The National Day of Prayer for the African American and African Family was created by Fr. James Goode, OFM in 1989. It is a day set aside to give special thanks to God for our families and place our every care in the arms of Jesus. Click here for prayer.
